In the spring of 2011 I developed and taught two seven-week Time workshops to first year Foundations students. The workshop was an introduction to time-based media and the special considerations it requires. In seven weeks we moved from flip books to Final Cut Pro, and from a broad consideration of time as an element in the still image, to individual stop-motion projects and a group project that involved large-scale, wall-sized, painted animations. In a spirit somewhere between William Kentridge and Blu, these projects required planning, painting, photography, and video editing. This is a documentation of the process. Four of the finished projects can be seen here.
